Bed was comfortable, staff was helpful! The standard king room suited us: it had a heating system, a safe and a coffee maker. The bar was nice.
-
Special note of thanks to concierge. The hotel interior was gorgeous. Location within 3 km of san diego zoo. Pretty room and bed
-
The room was extremely large and although a little tired in decoration it was very clean and was clearly representative of the era it was built. The reception and swimming pool area are very impressive, staff were friendly and although it is out of town I found it easy to get buses downtown and it only took 10 minutes.
The breakfast area could be more comfortable

Overall, the location of this hotel is good for travelers who have a car.
First of all, wifi access was almost impossible. Today, many people use wifi with their laptops and ipods. It was so inconvenient. Secondly, house-keeping was not very good. They didn't change bed covers and just they remake the bed with the used covers. Lastly, the room had too thin wall, so I could hear all the noises from the room next to mine. It was so annoying. I booked this hotel because I wasn't able to find any room.

the bath room wasn't clean enough, the coffee maker wasn't clean there were still the used packed of coffee inside it. While I was trying to pour coffee in the breakfast room I found a cockroach on the table ,I called the waitress and showed it to her but she couldn't catch it... We were four people in the room two kids and two adults , all we found in the bathroom is 1 ounce of shampoo and no conditioner....

It was laid back and had free parking and a waffle maker for breakfast. For a lower end hotel, that's not bad.
They advertised a free happy hour social not mentioning the day of the week making us think it was daily, we were sad to find out that was not the case. The pool party was lively but would have been distracting/loud had we had room near the action.
-
The decor was very nice, the room were big and had a separeate tv room with a couch that pulls out into a bed.
Hotel was under construction but it didnt affect the rooms.

The other reviews are quite accurate. This hotel is not far from the center, and prices are acceptable, if you get a good deal. More than 80 dollars would be too much for the service offered.
Rooms are really old and rundown. I mean really. This supposed remodelling is very small. Continental breakfast really is a joke, as stated by others. It's embarrasing, really. An old an unadequate room, terrible coffe and muffins.
-
it was a dirty disgusting mess. i won't use this site again or stay at this hotel again. i travel 250 days of the year and using this site and hotel was a first time experience i won't ever repeat.
everything. it was filthy and not worth the price. disgusting.

This hotel has lots of charm and tradition.

I liked the room it was reall cozy for what I needed it for. The jacuzzi was nice and the complimentary breakfast was pretty good.
I wish the fitness center had more equiptment in it... I really wanted to work out but there was only 2 machines in there.

The history is neat and the architecture of the hotel is unusual. There is a charm about the place. Lots of light in main lobby areas. Great swimming pool - though not heated, so relying on the power of the sun! Very helpful easy-going staff. Central location in the city at a great price.
This was my second stay here. They've taken away the hot tub, which is disappointing. They are renovating the whole building slowly, and the changes are not reflected in the information on their website. I requested a fridge in my online booking, and they no longer supply fridges, but they did find one for me and brought it to my room. Internet signal is weak - at least in the room I was in. Bedroom walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors.
-
We have stayed there before and it was much nicer with the improvements. Location is connveint for us. We will bring the family next time and go to the Zoo.
-
I love the hotel itself but we were placed in room 246 right above the red fox restaurant and the smell and smoke was horrible!!!! Me having asthma did not help the situation at all!!!
-
Plenty of parking. Good beds but no bedspreads?
Poor breakfast room - unpleasant and slightly dirty. Asked for wake-up and no call came through. Beat up lobby floor- unattractive.
